Updated 6 July 2011
Sparked by young kiwis, Love your Coast is not another organisation, rather an ongoing project that helps people across the country look after the coastlines we all love. Love your Coast launched in December 2010 with a series of huge coastal clean-up events in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and the West Coast of the South Island. Around 5,500 school students, volunteers and organisations worked together during the launch event series to clean-up our beaches and set in motion the Love your Coast project.
The lasting legacy of the project - www.loveyourcoast.org - is a free tool for anyone planning and promoting their own coastal clean-up events. Information, downloads and the event planner are available for anyone to use. The simple activity at the core of this project - picking-up rubbish from the coast - combines hands-on practical learning with fun. We love our coasts and this is your opportunity to roll-up your sleeves and get involved in loving yours too.
